What is there really to say about Mannequin?

I don’t care much for this movie, to be frank. I don’t care for Andrew McCarthy and the mannequin he wants to fuck (or the ancient Egyptian woman who inhabits it). I do like that Starship song, but it reminds me of GLOW, and then I just find myself being irritated by the fact that GLOW got cancelled.

Anyway, James Spader is the best part of this movie (natch). He plays Mr. Richards, the manager of Prince & Company who is most definitely under the queer umbrella and probably has a very organized fridge. He’s in cahoots with a competing business for reasons that bored me, and man he is just flailing around all over, pissed off as hell at Andrew and his doll. It’s great.

It took me a while to figure out who he reminded me of and why it was sort of grossing me out. At first, I thought it was one of those fuckass mice from ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, I hate that movie.

But then it finally hit me.

It’s Corin Nemec as Harold Lauder in the 1994 tv mini-series The Stand!!!!!!

My thoughts on The Stand can be saved for another day, and trust me, I have a lot. But I’m going to sign off on this now… I don’t have a lot to say about Mannequin, I’m behind on these write ups (Secretary deserves my full attention), and I’m prepping for something pretty cool on the podcast in 11 hours, so you’ll have to wait for something more substantial. Sorry!

Mannequin is not on Tubi. Mannequin 2 is, though.
