Spader September: Keys to Tulsa (9/16)

Hey baby, can I borrow $50?

Sleepy Kolleen struck again on Keys to Tulsa night but I managed to stay more awake for it (even though the moving parts were overwhelming to me due to how tired I was).

This is another Eric Stoltz forward vehicle where he plays a loser and owes money or something and everyone is scheming and conniving and Michael Rooker is there doing the absolute maximum, as usual. I adore Michael Rooker. I have a picture of myself with him somewhere. I can’t find a good enough picture of him from this movie so you’ll just have to believe me.

There she is! With her allergy eyes

Sleepiness aside, I can talk specifically about one element of this movie and it is that, for the second time in our sad, pathetic lives, we have before us James Spader and Deborah Unger as a married couple, and wow, we are truly blessed beyond measure!! Of course she’s horny for Stotltz and I just can’t abide by that but what can you do. Who am I to judge? I’m unironically obsessed with Dennis Franz.

Well since my baby left me

Let’s talk about what James Spader looks like in this movie because, and this pains me to tell you, it is not good. He looks like a low rent Elvis impersonator who would drunkenly ruin a bachelorette party. I remember when my very first boyfriend Brian dyed his hair black. We weren’t dating by then but we were still friends and I was like, Brian, honey, no. No! That’s what James Spader looks like here. No, James. No! (Brian is dead now and I’m sure in the afterlife he realizes the black hair was a very bad choice.)

I don’t want to crop this

Anyway, that’s Keys to Tulsa. I guess it was a book. I did not read the book. You can watch it on Tubi, though.
